The Fair Employment Act, better known as Executive Order 8802, was signed into law by Franklin Roosevelt in 1941. This legislation required employers to hire workers without discriminating and was later expanded into Executive Order 9981. This law is the key enabler of what is now known as the "American Dream," the ability for any individual, regardless of race or origin, to be successful based upon their abilities.
